What is pulmonary vein cryoablation?

Cryoablation of the pulmonary veins is a procedure used to stop abnormal electrical signals originating from your pulmonary veins, from provoking atrial fibrillation, one of the most common and bothersome arrhytmias. 

Who is a candidate for ablation?

Pulmonary vein cryoablation is used to treat atrial fibrillation, the most common heart rhythm problem.

 

This arrhythmia puts you at risk for stroke and can the arrythmia itself can be quite bothersome.

What are the symptoms of atrial fibrillation?

 

Some people with atrial fibrillation have no symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they can include:

  • Feeling like your heart is racing, skipping beats, or beating out of sync

  • Mild "tightness" or pain in the chest

  • Feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or like you are going to pass out.

  • Having trouble breathing, especially with exercise.
