Arrhythmia ablation with radiofrequency

What is radiofrequency arrhythmia ablation?

Catheter ablation is a procedure used to treat certain conditions that cause the heart to beat too fast. It is sometimes called "radiofrequency catheter ablation," This procedure is done in the hospital.

Catheter ablation destroys the part of the heart that creates or propagates abnormal electrical heart signals. After the procedure, the heart can beat normally again.

The heart can beat too fast when:

  • A part of the heart begins to beat too fast

  • Electrical short circuit within the normal conduction system

Who is a candidate for radiofrequency arrhythmia ablation?

Today many arrhythmias or abnormal heart beats can be cured with ablation therapy.

As such, if you no longer want to take medication for your arrhythmia , or if it persists despite the medication, you may be a candidate for ablation.
